Iosif Andriasov: Variations in Five Movements, Op. 18 for 25 Performers Music Score.

In 1968, Iosif Andriasov composed the Concerto for Symphony Orchestra. It consisted of six movements and had a subtitle Variations in Six Movements for Twenty Five Performers. The Concerto was dedicated to Grigory Samuilovich Frid, who was Iosif Andriasov’s composition teacher at the Music College of the Moscow P. I. Tchaikovsky State Conservatory, Moscow, USSR. In 1969, the Concerto was premiered and recorded by musicians of the USSR All-State Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra under Maestro Gennady Cherkasov in Moscow, USSR. In this recording, Iosif Andriasov performs the piano part in the last movement of the Variations. The Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation did not acquire the Concerto because it was composed in the serial style, which at that time was prohibited in the Soviet Union. The Variations are written in the twelve-tone system.

From the book: “Essays on the Music of Iosif Andriasov.” Written by Marta Andriasova (Marina Kudryashova).
