Iosif Andriasov: "The Spring", Op. 32 for 2 Violins, Viola and Cello Music Score.
Iosif Andriasov composed the “Spring” for String Quartet, Op. 32, in 1994. Mr. Andriasov made two additional versions for the “Spring”: “Spring” for Vocal Quartet and “Spring” for Choir a cappella.
The song is a sorrowful monologue of a young woman, deserted by her lover:
“Spring has arrived, but there is still snow around.
My sweetheart has lost interest in me.
The snowstorm is getting stronger and stronger,
It burns my heart more and more painfully.
My sweetheart loves me no longer,
He has left me and forgotten me forever.”
Mr. Andriasov said: “Usually, the spring is treated as a symbol of awakening, rejoicing, and hope. Such treatment has become a cliché. Meanwhile, there are other things in spring, as well as in other seasons; they are not only optimistic, but tragic and neutral ones.”
From the book: “Essays on the Music of Iosif Andriasov.”
Written by Marta Andriasova (Marina Kudryashova).
