In 1955, when he was 22 years old, Iosif Andriasov wrote a Piece for Flute and Piano. It was dedicated to Ruben Tarasovich Gadziev, a flutist, and relative of the composer. Played numerously all over the world, Iosif Andriasov’s Musical Sketch is his most performed composition to date.
Iosif Andriasov, in one of his conversations with Marta Andriasova (Marina Kudryashova), said that he heard his Musical Sketch for Flute in his dream. This music, he continued, is “the music from other spheres. It is serene, rich (abundant), deeply dense. The icy mountains of the planets… reflection of the mountain peaks… yellow sun.”
The Musical Sketch reflects kindness of Iosif Andriasov’s soul. This composition, which is affable, tender, loving, and sincere, is not a romantic dream about the beauty of the spiritual world, but it IS the spiritual world itself.
