Iosif Andriasov: "The Fallow Deer", Op. 9 for Tenor and Piano Music Score.

The group of romances, written in 1958-1959: “The Fallow-Deer,” Op. 9, “The Street Song,” Op. 10, and “The Sorrow in My Melody,” Op. 11 represent a significant stage in the creative evolution of Iosif Andriasov’s musical style. Iosif Andriasov turns his attention to new music sources, in particular, to impressionism and symbolism. The connection with folk Armenian music becomes more indirect and comes near the style of Soghomon Soghomonyan (Komitas Vardapet). Arshak Andriasov made a version for Viola and Piano.

“Видит лань:                          “The fallow-deer sees:
In the water a stag is reflected.
The fallow-deer roams everywhere.
Looking for that stag.

A fallow-deer calls through his dream
The stag heard.
Roaming and looking he is.
Looking for at night.
Night and day.”
